FINLEY
Graveside services for Joel Boles Finley, 72, 207 S. Mesquite, were held Thursday in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. Services were conducted by the Rev. Stanley White, Jr., Hillcrest Baptist Church.
He died Tuesday in the local hospital.
He was born Sept. 13, 1912, in Robertson County, Texas. He was raised and educated in Carlsbad. He worked on ranches in this area until 11939 when he became employed by the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a car inspector for the railroad until his retirement in 1970. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, the Brotherhood of Railroad Car Men and the AFL-CIO Local #883.
Survivors include his wife, Leeta Q. Finley, Carlsbad; one son, Donald G. Finley, Lake Elsinore, Calif.; one daughter, Edna Bernice Kaye, New York City, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
