Pioneer of Wilmette passes away at home.
Mrs. Mary A. McDaniel Clampitt, a resident of Wilmette for the past 66 years, and a granddaughter of Henry McDaniel, (obit lists the wrong name here) early founder of the community, passed away on Wednesday of last week at her home, 823 Greenleaf avenue. She had been in ill health for some time. Born in Yorkville, near Aurora, she was brought to the village at the age of 4. Taking keen interest in the history of the village, she was the author of many notes on its earlier years. Funeral services were held at her residence on Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. John G. Hindley, minister of the First Congregational church, officiating. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery. Mrs. Clampitt is survived by one son, Edwin J., 908 Central Avenue, Wilmette.
