Mr. and Mrs. Harrison McBeth, natives of El Dorado County and resident here all of their lives, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday at a family dinner at the Blue Bell Coffee Shop [in Placerville]. The couple wed on June 1, 1893, at the residence of the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Toombs, at White Rock Canyon before the Rev. C.C. Pierce.
Mrs. McBeth was so well known by the name "Nellie" that the statistical report of the marriage in "The Democrat" of that date uses that name. Her true name was Mary Ellen Sexton. She is a native of Placerville, daughter of the late Michael Sexton and Mrs. Sarah Sexton.
The Mountain Democrat and Placerville Republican, Thursday, June 3, 1943, p. 5.
