Lois J. Reed, 82, formerly of 3402 Iowa Ave., died Monday afternoon, Aug. 9, 2004, in the emergency room of the Fayette Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of Hickory Creek of Connersville for several months.
She was born March 31, 1922, in Rush County, Ind., one of four children of Leo and Elsie Johnson Cullins and was a 1940 graduate of Fairview High School.
On April 26, 1947, she married in Buena Vista, Ind., to Truman Reed, a native of Estill County, Ky. Following their marriage, they resided in Connersville for 10 years before moving to the Abington, Ind., area for over 30 years, They returned to Connersville following their retirement.
She was employed by the Coble Casket Co., of Richmond and later at the Hill's Roses of Richmond. She was a 44 year member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, and cooking for her family.
Survivors include seven children, Cletus (Sandra) Reed of Richmond, Dewey Cullins of Connersville, Troy Reed of Florida, Mickie (Janet) Reed of Connersville, Geraldine (Chuck) Smith of Liberty, Jeanette Parvis, (Ernie) of Jackson, Mich., and Terry Reed of Franklin, Ind.; five grandsons; 14 granddaughters; 14 great-grandsons; eight great-granddaughters and one great-great-grandson; a sister, Maxine Ellis of Indianapolis; a brother, Dallas Cullins of Laurel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, Truman, who died Nov. 21, 1996, she is preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Crystal Lynn; two grandsons, Rick Allen and Kevin Lunsford; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Reed; an infant great-granddaughter; and a sister, Doris Gilley.
Funeral services will be conducted by James Gouvan at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services. Burial will be in Abington Cemetery. Memorial contribution's may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
