CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Donald R. Hildebrand, age 86, of Centerville, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Reid Hospital. Born July 5, 1927, in Franklin County, Indiana, to Walter and Hazel Hattie Hutson Hildebrand, Don was a 1945 graduate of Milton High School. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army. Don was a tool and die maker, and served his apprenticeship at International Harvester. He worked at H&P Tool and then at Bucyrus-Erie which later became NATCO. Don retired from Quality Gauge and Tool as a supervisor after 30 years. He was a member of the Centerville-Abington Senior Center. Don loved farming and maintaining his 35 acres, gardening, and nature. He was always interested in his children's and grandchildren's lives and all of their activities. Survivors include his wife of nearly 64 years, Dorothy Schwab Hildebrand; children, Jeff (Tonya) Hildebrand of Arkansas, Kevin Hildebrand of Florida, Kent (Loretta) Hildebrand of Williamsburg, Indiana, and Doneen (Tom) Clover of Noblesville, Indiana; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Sacre and Frances (Lloyd) Dietz, both of Liberty, Indiana; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
Burial will be in Abington Cemetery with military honors provided by the Fayette County Honor Guard.
