Reid D. Phillips, 96, Winter Ave., Goshen, died 1 a.m. Sun. May 8 after a courageous battle with cancer for the past 3 years. He was born Dec. 9, 1914 to Alpha & Dessie (Payne) Phillips in Huntington County, Ind. He married Marguerite (Scott) Phillips on Oct. 29, 1939 in Ontario and she died Aug. 28, 1989.

Surviving are a daughter, Carol Gouker, Goshen, sons, James (Ella) Phillips, Indianapolis, Jon (Dena) Phillips, Mishawaka, S. Kent Phillips, Bellows Falls, Vt., 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are a son-in-law, Larry Gouker and 3 brothers, Cameron, Ivan & Gene Phillips.

He was a 1933 graduate of Clear Creek High School, Huntington County; a partner in the Goshen Mold & Tools Company for 20 years; was recognized for 25 years of service to the Goshen Hospital Red Coats; committee member of Boy Scout Troup #79 and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Goshen.

Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Fri, May 13 & 10-11 a.m. Sat. May 14 where the service will follow at 11 a.m. all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Rev. Anna Parkinson of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate and burial will be in Violett Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart County. The family would like to thank Goshen Hospice for their caring service.
