Irwin "Irv" Harold Dennen, 82, died suddenly at his home in Longboat Key, Fla., on Feb. 18, 2008.

He was the husband of Underwood native Beverly Aune Dennen.
Irv was born Dec. 24, 1925, in Chicago, Ill. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering at the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctorate degree at DePaul University in Chicago. His years of higher education were interrupted by World War II.
Irv served in the Navy as a lieutenant in the Pacific Theater in 1945, a witness to the end of the war that would shape his generation.
Irv began his career in the machine tool industry, eventually rising to become a highly respected senior executive at various companies.

He met and married the love and light of his life, Beverly Ann Aune, in 1962.
They had two boys and a set of twin girls in the next three years.
Irv and Bev infused their children with their passion for downhill skiing, tennis, sailing and reading.
Irv also had an enduring love affair with any motorized vehicle on land or water (at the right price, mind you), especially motorcycles.
He took what would be his last motorcycle ride just two weeks before his death. Retirement never really happened for Irv; he continued to consult both professionally and as a volunteer after their move to Longboat Key in 1986.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Fannie Dennen.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann; a brother, Robert Dennen (Joan); sons, David Dennen (Meredith) and Michael Dennen; his daughters, Anne Olson (Laef) and Martha Dennen; eight grandchildren who will always cherish the memory of their "Abba": Jordan, Jeremiah, Samuel and Libby (children of David and Pam Dennen), and Emma, Toby, Maren and Gunnar (children of Laef and Anne Olson).

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Ebenezer Emergency Fund USA, P.O. Box 188, Spring Brook, NY 14140 (to help Jewish people return to Israel).

A gathering in memory of Irv Dennen is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Thumper Pond Resort in Ottertail, with burial to follow in Rindahl Cemetary in Underwood.
