Myrtle Hawks Poindexter Jenkins of Wilkes County passed away December 5, 2006 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Home.

Mrs. Jenkins was born February 8, 1927 in Carroll County Virginia to George Washington & Lillie Akers Hawks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Ervin Poindexter; her second husband, Cephus Jenkins; a great great-grandchild; and three brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Willie Poindexter and wife Jane, Tony Poindexter and wife Shelia all of Hamptonville; two daughters, Helen Myers and husband John, Betty Childress and husband Ray all of Elkin; a brother, Melvin Hawks of Courtney; two sisters, Margie Hardy of Jonesville, Marie Turner of Yadkinville; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Dobson.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
