ALLEN E. LESTER:
age 80, of St. Ignace, died at his cabin in Trout Lake Friday, June 30, 2006, while mowing his lawn.

He was born September 27, 1925 in Garden to Edward Allen and Nora (nee Lempkey) Lester.

Mr. Lester entered the Marine Corps in 1943 at age 17 and served in action on Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands and in the occupation of China. He returned home in March 1946 and worked for the State Highway Department as an Operating Engineer. He also worked for the Mackinac County Road Commission and owned AL's Septic Tank Service from 1968 to 1995.

He married Mary Margaret Paquin on December 28, 1953, in Rudyard and she died on December 3, 2000.

Mr. Lester was a life member of the VFW, Moose Lodge #999, and St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church.

Surviving are his children and their families: Eddie and Carol Lester of Brevort Lake, Arletta Pope of St. Ignace, Jill Sterk of Waterford, Colleen and Joe St. Louis of St. Ignace, Connie and Gary Hanchett of Rudyard, Robert and Cindy Thomas of Roseville, and Leonard Thomas of St. Ignace; Three sisters and their families; Bev and Melvin Lant and Ethlyn Tatrow of St. Ignace, and Nadine and Virgil Pizzala of Flint; brother-in-law and their families; Bernard and Vi Paquin and James Paquin of St. Ignace, and Charles and Dorothy Paquin of Cedarville; 21 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held Thursday, July 6 at 11am at St. Ignatuis Loyola Catholic Church with Father Norbert B. Landreville and Deacon Don Olmstead officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Trout Lake.
