William was a mail carrier. He started on horseback, continued until the time that he used a truck to deliver mail. There is a story about his mail carrying on the Ancestery Lewis/Henry family tree.
He outlived his second wife as well as Jennie. He continued to live in the last house he built until he was 94 years old. At that time his daughter felt she could not
care for him safely anymore. He was moved, briefly, to the Casebier house in Reading. He was there only six weeks before he was transferred to Golden Age Retirement Home in Burlington, KS. He lived there until he died at the age of 96. He was buried in Lincoln Cemetery next to
Jennie, his first wife.
