She was born November 21, 1906 at Basalt, Idaho the fourth of eleven children to Hyrum Parley and Elizabeth Chapman Johnson.
She married Louis Preston Howell September 19, 1927 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They lived in Basalt and then Shelley until 2000 when she went to Bingham Extended Care. She worked at Helen's Dress Shop for 21 years and retired at age 78.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking chocolate chip cookies, camping, listening to music, quilting, crocheting, embroidering, making dollies & pillow cases, and in her later years playing bingo and word search finds.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna (Don) Johnson of Salt Lake City, two sons, Boyd (Loretta) Howell and Jerry (Carolyn) Howell both of Basalt, two daughters-in-law, Marva Howell of Idaho Falls and Margie Howell (Paul) Jacobson of Midville, UT, brothers, Dean (Jackie) Johnson of Inkom and Willard "Bill" (Verna) Johnson of Goshen, Deloy (Ann) Yourgensen of Boise, sisters, Arlene Armstrong of Payson, UT, Edith Robinson of Basalt, Leta Henke of Portland, OR, 20 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, and 28 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Bob & Ted, Dean, & daughter, Afton Lessard, sisters, Alice, Irene, Gladys, brothers, Clarence, Glen, Harold, & Dell, Lavon, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services held Saturday August 5th at 12:00 Noon at the Shelley Stake Center (325 East Locust) with Bishop Barry Hanson, conducting. Interment in the Basalt Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley. She will truly be missed because she was loved by all.
