Willis Truman Layn, 81, of Duncan, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011 in Duncan. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel, with Ken Layn and family members officiating. Interment will follow in Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Truman was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Claud, the son of Walter Lee and Mary Elizabeth Bryant Layn. He attended school in Claud and graduated from Velma-Alma High School. He married Patsy Jean Loman March 28, 1953 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She preceded him in death June 16, 2001. He later married Doris Payne on Oct. 5, 2001 in Ada.
He retired from Halliburton as a supervisor in the Accounting Department. He was a member of the Highland Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
Truman is survived by his wife Doris, of the home; two daughters, Janet Wood and husband, Rick, of Oklahoma City, and Teresa Browning and husband, Charles, of Ada; one sister, Bonnie Scifres and husband, Perry, of Duncan; five grandchildren, Rebecca and Patrick Bryan, Tyler Watkins, Lauren and Phillip Browder, Evan Browning and Carter Browning; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Pat; one son, Dickie Lee Layn, in 1963; parents Walter and Mary Layn; three brothers J.W. Layn, Kenneth Layn and Dwain Layn; and four sisters, Oleta Turner, Virginia Smallwood, Drewsella Cobb and Oma Schaeffer.
Pallbearers will be family members.
