Born Sept. 17, 1936, in Corydon, he was the son of the late William H. and Dorothy H. Hines Allen.
He was an Army veteran, a retired machine operator at Tube Turns Co. in Louisville and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon.
Survivors include his wife, the former Jean C. Spalding; three sons, Ray and Tony Allen, both of Corydon, and John Allen of Leavenworth; two daughters, Cathy Powell of Mauckport and Diane Gravitt of Georgetown; a brother, Donnie Allen of Corydon; three sisters, Joann Conrad of Corydon, Janie Allen of New Salisbury and Jill Allen of New Albany; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Monday, May 9, from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and Wednesday, May 11, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral Mass: Wednesday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon with burial in the church cemetery.
Officiant: Father Robert Hankee.
Pallbearers: Grandsons Matthew and Corey Powell, Grant and Garrett Gravitt, Nick, Cody, Zach and Patrick Allen.
Honorary pallbearers: Granddaughters Katie and Kelly Gravitt, Kari Allen and Kayla Haas, and great-granddaughter Kara Haas.
The family suggests memorial gifts to his church or Hosparus.
