W. Price Lineweaver, aged 54 retired merchant and practically a lifelong resident of Harrisonburg, died at ten o'clock yesterday morning at his home on East Wolfe street. Death was due to heart disease from which he had suffered for the past two years. His last attack of illness came early in the week and he gradually grew weaker until the end.
Mr. Lineweaver ws senior partner in the old grocery firm of Lineweaver Brothers, which for 20 years operated a store on East Market street. Ill health forced him to retire from business in 1927. When active in business, he was a director in the Retail Merchants Association and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He also was active in the management of Sparkling Springs, the mountain resort near Singers Glen.
Mr. Lineweaver was a consistant member of the Harrisonburg Presbyterian Church and for years served as an elder of the congregation.
He was a son of the late James M. and Sallie Rolston Lineweaver of the Cooks Creek community, where he as born and where he spent his early life. On Sept. 9, 1903, he was united in marriage with Miss Bessie E. Parrish, of Staunton, whom survives, along with four children - Miss Helen, a student at the State Teachers College; William, of Warrenton, and James and Dorothy, at home. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters; Dr. Walter T. and C. C. Lineweaver, Harrisonburg, the Rev. Jesse L. Lineweaver, Beckley, W.Va.; Mrs. L. P. Little, Williamsburg; and Mrs. W. Ward Beam, of Philadelphia.
Funeral services will be held from the Presbyterian Churh at two o'clock Sunday afternoon, his pastor, Dr. Ben F. Wilson, assisted by Dr. E.B. Jackson, of the Baptist church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodbine cemetery.
