She was apparently baptized at Redding, Fairfield County, Connecticut as the child of Hezekiah Rowland and Tamar Treadwell.
Her date of birth is said to have been 1747 (from tombstone) and her date of birth or baptism Jan. 31, 1747 - 1748 from another source.
She apparently had a brother Jabez Rowland who was born about 1746 and died Aug. 1830 having married Sarah Lacy-Lacey on May 2, 1771 at Easton, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Esther and Samuel Ramsom, Sr. had one son and eleven daughters. There was some kind of a rift between father and son and when Samuel Patterson, Sr. supplied family information to Orcutt who was writing the history of Stratford and Bridgeport, Samuel Patterson, Sr. listed the name of his daughter-in-law as Unknown but did list information for his grandchildren.
Esther is buried at Stratford, Fairfield County, Connecticut and there is a large monument that was added later commemorating Samuel, Sr. and Esther by their children and grandchildren (unnamed). Samuel Patterson, Sr. was a Captain in the Revolutionary War and a grandson of Andrew Patterson who came from Scotland to Stratford, Connecticut and was one of the earliest European settlers of Stratford.
