John Walker, born John Joseph Maus in New York City in 1943, moved to California with his family in 1947. After appearing in some television and films as a young actor, he formed a duet with his sister, known as John and Judy. In order to play in clubs, though he was underage, he acquired an ID under the name "John Walker." In 1964, he formed The Walker Brothers with two unrelated musicians, Scott Engel and Al Schneider. John played lead guitar and vocals, Scott was the bassist, and Al was the drummer. They had two hits in the US, "Make It Easy on Yourself" and "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore," which hit #13 In 1966. The band enjoyed larger success in the UK, charting into the 1970's.
John died in his home in Los Angeles on May 7, 2011. He leaves three children and three grandchildren.

----
The Walker Brothers members during their peak were:
John Maus, vocals and lead guitar
Scott Engel, vocal and bass
Gary Leeds, drums (not Al Schneider, who may have have played with them at Gazzari's on the Sunset Strip during the early sixties in LA). Gary Leeds, former drummer of the Shondels, pursuaded John and Scott to take the gamble go to London to seek their fame and fortune there.
