Jane was the fifth child of General William and Bethiah Brown Pratt from Massachusetts. She married Robert L. McKnight on 21 October 1828 in Wood County. He died in 1840. Her second marriage was to Francis Hinsdale on 15 December 1842 in Wood County. It was a second marriage for both of them. In 1850, Jane and Francis were in Weston Township and they have Lucretia from a previous marriage and George Hinsdale living with them. In 1860, Jane is living in Weston Township with George and Lucretia but Francis is dead. He probably died in 1851 as there is a probate case for him (#274) at that time. In 1870 and 1880, Jane is still living in the same place and George and Lucretia have married and had Nellie. Jane died from influenza and congestion at the age of 91 years 5 months and 18 days .
