The funeral of Mrs. Mary Rush Bird took place at the United Evangelical church of Harnedsville last Tuesday, the Rev. F.E. Hetrick of Johnstown, assisted by his brother, the Rev. E.K. Hetrick, of Salisbury, officiating. Mrs. Mary Rush Bird was the widow of Noah Bird, the only surviving veteran of the Mexican war in this section. She was 88 years old. She is survived by one son, W.S. Bird of Harnedsville, and one daughter, Mrs. Israel Dunmire of Johnstown. The late Rev. A.J. Bird, a former minister of both Somerset and Johnstown, was a son. Interment was in the Jersey cemetery. Published in the Somerset Co. Leader, June 21, 1918
