See 1870 Census. He swore allegience to the USA Nov. 7, 1860 at age 30. His petition says he arrived May of 1857 from Germany as Peter Joseph Schenck and settled in Johnstown, NY. However, he probably arrived in NY, May 3rd, 1856 on the Chimborazo from Antwerp, Belgium - Randall K Morse - Master. Obituary says he farmed for 50 years in Meco, NY. That an accident lead to his demise about a year later. Suvived by wife, two sons and daughter - Martin and Maggie Shank living at home at the time. His stone has not been found. Another possibility might be ST. Mary's church yard.
