John Walter Almond, 80, formerly of Savage, died Wednesday at the memorial Hospital in Casper, Wyoming.
He was born September 22, 1892, in North Kingstown, R.I. to Mr. and Mrs. John Edward Almond. He grew up in Rhode Island moving to Savage in 1913.
He was married to Carrie Leivestad Dec. 30, 1920, in Savage, Mt. The couple farmed in the Savage area until the death of Mrs. Almond on Nov. 24, 1955. After her death, Mr. Almond moved to Wyoming, where he farmed, later buying a farm in Thermopolis, Wyo. where he had lived since 1967.
Survivors include two sons, John E., Girard Route, Sidney, and Roy, of Glendive; six daughters, Mrs. William (Mary) Pust, of Savage, Mrs. Joe (Annie) Klempel, of Big Fork; Mrs. John (Ida) Larson, of Camp Verde, Ariz; Mrs. Harold (Edith) Damm, of Thermopolis, Wyo; Mrs Edward (Harriet) Damm, of Kalispell, and Mrs. Donald (Florence) Dvorak, of Fort Washington, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Earl (Eleanor) Briggs and Mrs. Mildred Pierce, both of Eden Gardens Inverness, Fla.; 45 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Yellowstone Community Church of Savage, the the Rev. James Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery at Savage. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.
