They moved with their family to Geauga County, Ohio in 1827, becoming pioneers of the county.

He died on 3 November 1883, in Morseville, Jo Daviess, Illinois, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Morseville, Jo Daviess, Illinois, United States.
