Jacob I Thierer was born 28 Dec 1813 in Braunisheim, Wurtemburg, Germany, the son of Johann Jacob Thierer and Angelica Haueff.

Emigration: Jacob departed from Rotterdam, Netherlands aboard the ship 'McClellan' and arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana on 17 Jul 1839. After his arrival He served in war in Florida for five years.

Jacob married 4 May 1845, Mary Margaret Bentz in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of Mr. Bentz & Mary Elizabeth Bentz (maiden name not known). They settled in Weston, Platte County, Missouri where they had their first five children. Jacob was a farmer.

Jacob & Mary moved their family to Ogden, Riley County Kansas in 1854. He was a poor man but continued farming near Ogden, Riley County, Kansas. Seven more children were born here.

Jacob was a man of strong common sense. He worked hard made money and was able to leave his family in a comfortable place.

Jacob became ill and in poor health and then for five weeks was sick with malarial fever. He died on Friday, 15 Apr 1885 and was buried on his farm. He was survived by his wife and eight children.
