Harrison Bostwick dies at advanced age at home at East Onondaga

Harrison Bostwick, who died at his residence at East Onondaga on Sunday morning after a short illness, at the age of 84 years, was one of several brothers well known in the city and county.

Nathaniel, the oldest, died a few years ago at Onondaga Valley. Ezra had resided in Michigan several years before his death. Barzillai was a resident many years of Syracuse, and James G. of Otisco, where the family originated.

Harrison Bostwick moved to Syracuse about forty years ago and was for many years a resident of the old fifth Ward. Later he resided on Marshall street and some nine years ago moved to the Valley. He was a farmer in early life. He was a man of religious convictions and a member of Plymouth church from 1866.

He was a wide reader and an acute observer of current events in the city and country and world. His mind was alert, and during his last days he watched for the coming of his daily paper to get the latest news from the Russian war. He was a strong temperance man and worked for the temperance cause.

Mr. Bostwick leaves three daughters -- Mrs. Josiah S. Leonard of Rockford, Ill., and Miss Charlotte D. Bostwick and Mrs. Elbridge J. Fenn, both of this city. Mrs. Bostwick died eleven years ago.
