Dorothy Ethyl Polk was married to Melvin Luther Boles in 1931. They had 3 children: Donald, Jimmy, and Bruce, raising them in Fox, Oklahoma. Jimmy died as an infant of meningitis. Tragically, Melvin died in 1942. Needing to support her family she went to work in Ardmore, Oklahoma where she met her future husband. Dorothy married George Elmer Johnson in 1946. They lived out their lives in Oklahoma City. She was a member of the South Memorial Baptist Church. Dorothy was my paternal grandmother. She made the best cinnamon rolls in the whole world. She loved to garden, knit, and have her family visit. Grandma died of cancer at such a young age. I miss her every day.
