He directed among others: "Viridiana" (1961), "El ángel exterminador" (1962), "Belle de jour" (1967), "Tristana" (1970) and "Ese oscuro objeto del deseo" (1977), his last film. He was cremated and his ashes scattered at Monte Tolocha.
