Motion Picture Director and Writer. His first film was "Un chien andalou"(1929) included in surrealist movement. Member active against Franco dictatorship, he went to Mexico in the middle of the forties. He directed among others: "Viridiana" (1961), "El ángel exterminador" (1962), "Belle de jour" (1967), "Tristana" (1970) and "Ese oscuro objeto del deseo" (1977), his last film. He was cremated and his ashes scattered at Monte Tolocha.
