Renowned spanish-born motion picture director and writer. His first film was "Un chien andalou"(1929) included in surrealist movement.Member active against Franco dictatorship, he go to Mexico in the middle of the forties. He directed among others: "Viridiana" (1961), "El ángel exterminador" (1962), "Belle de jour" (1967), "Tristana" (1970) and "Ese oscuro objeto del deseo" (1977), his last film. He was cremated and his ashes scattered in unknown location. His widow always refused to say where his ashes was scattered.
