U.S. Congressman. Born in New York City, he graduated from New York Law School, was admitted to the bar in 1891 and commenced to practice law in Brooklyn. He was a member of the New York State Assembly, (1899-1904) and served as attorney for the New York State comptroller, (1911-12). In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third, Sixty-fourth and Sixty-fifth Congresses, serving until 1919, when he resigned. He was then appointed judge of the magistrate’s court, serving (1919-31) and was appointed judge for the court of special sessions in 1931, serving until his death at age 66 in Bellmore, New York.
