Mr. Taylor died Saturday morning at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, of natural causes. A native of Shelby County he was a graduate of Bagdad High School and University of Ky, a former math teacher with Shelby Co. School system he also taught Agriculture class to returning veterans after WWII. He sold fertilizer for several years and retired from the Ky Transportation Cabinet. As a young man he enjoyed hunting and shooting pool, even though he lost his left arm in a hunting accident at 16. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed poker games with the Bland association. He was a member of Christiansburg Baptist Church and Ky Retired Teachers Association. Rodney was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Pruitt and Alma Jane Goodwin Taylor; brothers, Jim and Howard Taylor; sisters, Ailene, Mary, Lois, Mildred and Betty.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara Floyd Taylor, Bagdad; daughter, Beverly Greenwell, Frankfort; sons Mike (Cathy) Taylor, Cropper, Hal (Valerie) Taylor, Frankfort; brother, Bob (Eleanor) Taylor, Shelbyville, sister, Genie Wilson, Kansas; five grandchildren Shawn and Justin Taylor, Mackenzie, Lincoln and Jackson Taylor; and two great grandchildren, Karter and Kyle Taylor.
Pallbearers will his grandchildren along with Tim Roberts and Melvin Shirley.
