Frank Landis
Frank James, son of John and Leah Landis was born on February 26, 1884 in Start county, Ohio, near Louisville. At the age of eight months he came to Abilene with his parents and has resided in this community all these years. On January 7, 1919 he was married to Miss Cora Engle. She preceded him in death on May 10, 1927.
He was a great lover of books, especially loving the history of the Pennsylvania Dutch and their customs. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs and faithful to their precepts. He always had a good word for the older generation and a cherry greeting. Devoted to his parents he tried to make their old age pleasant and spent his last days when suffering in their home ministered to by their loving hands. He died on September 24, 1946 at the age of 62 years and 7 months. Frank will be greatly missed by his many friends. Surviving him are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Landis of Abilene and Mrs. Ebba Denton of Niagara Falls, Canada, whom he loved as a sister.
Memorial services were held September 27, 1946 from the Eicholtz chapel with Dr. C. B. Bryant in charge and interment was in the Abilene cemetery.
