Nicholas Schaf Was Resident of Shelby County More Than Fifty Years

Nicholas Schaf, age seventy-nine, resident of Shelby county for more than half a century, died Sunday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock at his home in Prescott. His death was caused by complication of diseases.
Mr. Schaf was one of the better known farmers of the southeast part of the county. He had lived on the farm where he died for forty-seven years. Mr. Schaf was a member of St. Vincent Catholic church. He was born in Dearborn county [October 28] 1846, and had been a resident of Shelby county since 1872. Mr. Schaf was married in 1868 to Miss Louise Kuntz. Ten children was born to them, six surviving.
Besides the widow, Mr. Schaf leaves four daughters, Mr. Harry VanWay, of Shelbyville; Mrs. Louis Huffman, of Indianapolis; Mrs. Henry Rehme, of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Lawrence Miller, of Prescott, and two sons, John Schaf, at home, and Frank, of Springfield, Ohio. Twenty grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at nine o'clock at St. Vincent church. Burial will be made in the church cemetery, R. T. Stewart in charge.
