DELECKI, Eugene – of Montrose, age 88, died Friday, May 6, 2011 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral Mass will be 11 AM Monday, May 9, 2011 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Montrose, Rev. Fr. Steve Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Saturday from 5-9PM and Sunday from 1-9PM. A vigil service will be held at 7PM Sunday at the funeral home. He will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10AM until time of mass. Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Eugene was born May 16, 1922 in Flint to the late Albert and Sophia (Grehn) Delecki and resided in Montrose the past 23 years. He served in the US Army during WW II in the New Guinea Campaign having received the Purple Heart Medal. Eugene married Irene Krezsan on July 6, 1946 in Flint. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2009. He retired from AC in 1975 with over 30 years seniority. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He enjoyed horseshoes, fishing, eating out and gambling.

Surviving are: 4 children, Barbara (Wendell) Murphy of Goodrich, Marcia (Timothy) Gartland of Flint, Robert (Julie) Delecki of Montrose and Julie (Donald) Root of Montrose; 12 grandchildren, Diane (Bill) Armour, Timothy (Stacey) Gartland II, Tracie (Casey) Elliott, Aimee (Kevin) Reed, Jessica Root, Christel Root, Rebecca (Chris) Ament, Josh (Shannon) Delecki, Donald (Kari) Root, Eric Delecki, Ryan Root and Travis Delecki; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Novar of Flint; brother, Stanley Delecki of Fenton; sister-in-law, Margaret Madaras of FL; several nieces and nephews.
