Husband of Sharon Legault who survived him

Carl J. Legault, known as "Joe" Legault, 66, of Engadine, went to be with our Lord and Savior Friday evening June 19, 2009 surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Northwood's Home Health and Hospice.

Born on December 7, 1942 in Newberry, Joe was the youngest son of the late Arthur Legault Sr. & Eva (Butkovich) Legault. Joe attended and graduated from Engadine High School in the class of 1962. Following his graduation, he pursued a career in the electrical field, beginning as a Groundsman Lineman and moving on to a Journeyman Lineman working for Clifton Engineering in Three Rivers, MI. On May 22, 1965 he married the former Sharon Marcus in New Buffalo.

In 1970, Joe and his family returned to Engadine and was employed at Harry Lucas Power Construction of Iron Mountain as a Journeyman Lineman. In 1971 he purchased his father-in-law's dairy farm and also farmed. Returning to the electrical field, he was employed as a Journeyman Lineman for Matchinski Electric in Brutus, Michigan and retired in 2007.

Joe was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He enjoyed doing woodwork, walking in the woods and just being outside. He loved to fix things for himself and others and had a giving heart and would help anyone in need with whatever was asked of him. He was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Naubinway, the Hiawatha Sportsman Club, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local #876 and the Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the Sheriff's Posse in the mid 1970's. Besides his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his son Robert Joseph in 1975 and his brother Earl in 2008.

Survivors included his wife of 44 years, Sharon, of Engadine; Daughter and son-in-law Sophie (Mike) Porter of Traverse City; granddaughters: Amanda and Lindsey also of Traverse City; and siblings Arthur Sr. "Bud" (Leatha), Peter (Ruthanne), Tom (Judy) and sister Mary Rose Legault, all of Engadine and Agnes Pardo of Eaton Rapids, sister-in-law Joyce Legault and brother-in-law Jerry (Berna) Marcus of Lansing.
