Hannah Cole Christensen, 100 years old, died Friday, at the home of her daughter Fern at Egin Bench, near St. Anthony, Idaho. She was born at Treasureton, near Preston, Idaho, to John Alfred and Jane Millington Cole. She grew up and attended school in Treasureton. As a young woman, she worked in the pea cannery at Smithfield, Utah, and at seed pea houses at Lewisville and Rigby, Idaho. She was married January 3, 1934, in the Temple at Logan, Utah, to Ralph Oswald Christensen. They lived at several locations in Cache Valley where they worked on farms during the Depression. In 1937, they moved to Etna, a community in Star Valley, Wyoming, where they ran a dairy farm for seven years. In 1944, they bought their own farm north of Idaho Falls in the Coltman area, where they farmed until her husband's death on November 3, 1975. She continued living in her home until November, 1999, when she went to live with her daughter. She worked a few years at Woolworth's store and at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as secretary and teacher in the Primary, Sunday School, and Young Women's organizations and was also a visiting teacher in Relief Society. She enjoyed doing genealogy, reading good books, sewing, and crocheting; she kept her own garden until she was ninety years of age. She appreciated good music and art and the beauty of the world. She took loved ones into her home when there was a need and cared for several of them in their final stages of life. She celebrated her 100th birthday in April, 2004, at a family dinner with over eighty of her family members.

She is survived by her children, Fern (Len) Humphries of Egin Bench, Idaho; Vonda (Gary) Hinckley of Shelley, Idaho; Valene (Allen) Sessions of Carlton, Oregon (and Rexburg, ID), and LaRalph (Nancy) Christensen of Coltman, Idaho; a brother, Willard Voss Cole of Bountiful, UT; and a sister-in-law, Irene Cole of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, parents, six brothers and four sisters, grandchild Kirsten Sessions, and great-grandchild Kason Adamson. Funeral Services were held on December 4, 2004, at Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls.
