Promintent Springfield business man for fifty years. Owner of electrical, plumbing and heating business and a pioneer automobile dealer in the city. Came to Springfield from Terre Haute, IN, at an early age. First entered electrical manufacturing business, making electric fire engine gongs in the attic of his home. First and lasting customer of many years was city of New York who purchased gongs for their fire department. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Elks lodges.

Survived by sisters Mrs. W. L. Blucke of Springfield, Mrs. Harry Medcraft of Palo Alto, Ca., brother Edward C. Haas, Sr. of Springfield; several nieces and nephews. He married Mable Nov. 8, 1886, at Attica, Ind. and she died in 1937, a few months after they had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
