Carroll William Matthews was born January 14, 1931 to Archie and Erma Matthews in Otis, Co. and left this life on April 21, 2011 to join his Lord and Savior. Carroll spent his entire life in Otis helping his family and many other people with his hard labor. He was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church for his whole life and rarely missed any service or celebration. He is survived by his close friend and niece, Erma Walker, his brother Melvin and wife Barbara of Toledo, Ohio, sister Dorothy Bateman of Chatham, IL, sister-in-law Florence Matthews of Washington, IL, 16 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Erma Matthews, sisters Ruth Moore and Elma Crouch, brothers Frank, Lowell, Gordon and Richard, nieces Bernetta Batterson and Roberta Myers, great nephews Christopher Bell and Corey Matthews. Funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church in Otis on April 29 at 2 PM with interment in the Matthews plot at the Otis Cemetery. Brenner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
