Daniel Bishop

HORRIBLE ACCIDENT – We regret to learn that a horrible accident occurred on Monday or Tuesday of this week at Nugent's steam saw mill in the Town of Harrison, in this county, by which a man named Bishop, the engineer of the mill, we believe, lost his life. The circumstances as near as we can learn are as follows; Bishop was a work alone below, and it is supposed his clothing was caught in the belt and he was drawn around the shaft. The sawyer who was at work above noticing that something was the matter with the machinery went below to see was wrong and found poor Bishop dead and horribly mutilated. His legs were smashed to pieces and the top of his skull broken off and his brains scattered in every direction. It is thought he made at least fifty revolutions before thrown off the shaft. We understand he was unmarried.
