U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Dickinson School of Law, in 1922; was admitted to the bar in 1924 and commenced to practice law in Cape May City, New Jersey. He was clerk of the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Cape May County, (1924-28), prosecutor of the pleas of Cape May County, (1928-33) and Mayor of Cape May, (1937-44). In addition, he was publisher of the Cape May Star and Wave newspapers, (1940-56). In 1945, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-ninth Congress and to the next five succeeding Congresses, serving until his death from a heart attack at age 54.
