Sherman was the son of Olive Sherman and Eldad Ruggles. He was one of 8 children: Amy, Harlow, Eldad, William, Lucia, Salina and Elizabeth (Betsey). He married Sarah Burr Oakley on January 8, 1883, in Brookfield, CT. Their daughter Elizabeth Ann is our ancestor. They had 4 other children: Henry Booth, Almon Burr, Olive Jane and Grace Elizabeth Ruggles. Sherman died of Gastric hemorhage. He is buried with his wife and his parents, Eldad and Olive.
