He was a son to Albert and Ann Rita (Mestemaker) Heckler, who survive in Celina. On Oct 16, 1982, in Celina, he married Lori Niekamp who survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. Thomas (Cherie) Heckler, Lima, and Ralph (Marsha) Heckler, St. Marys; a sister, Roseann Heckler, Coldwater; mother- and father-in-law, Cyril and Roberta Niekamp, Celina; and a brother-in-law, Chris Niekamp, Wapakoneta.
A member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Montezuma, he was employed by the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Celina Moose Lodge and Southshore Sportsmans Club.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Montezuma, with the Rev. James Dugal, officiating.
