"Mildred Gamble of Austin, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, January 21, 2004. Mildred was born in Fruitland, Texas, on March 31, 1926, to Adolph and Margaret Heugatter. Mildred grew up in Rosebud, Texas, when the family moved there in 1928. She married Glenn Gamble in 1946, and the couple moved to Austin. Mildred worked at Scarbroughs Department Store on Congress Avenue before beginning her career at Montgomery Wards in Capital Plaza. She retired from Ward's after thirty years of service, and then worked ten years for the Department of Public Safety. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, three sisters, one grandchild and three nephews. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Karen of Austin; two grandsons; two sisters; three brothers; and many nieces and nephews...."
