George was born in Coteau-du-Lac, Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Quebec, just before the family moved to Ontario.
He spent four years as the assistant operator for the Canada Atlantic Railway at Maxville, then worked as a ticket collector and agent at Galetta, Alexandria and St. Polycarp Junction before his failing health forced him to give up his position.
George died at age 20 from Tuberculosis Meningitis. Members of the ORT served as pallbearers.
