Asbury Taylor Wilkinson was a son of Joseph Brady Wilkinson and the former Elizabeth Ann Nicholson. He graduated from Auburn University and worked as a civil engineer for a time in the coal fields of northern Alabama. Returning to his inherited property near Gastonburg, Asbury married Elizabeth Catherine Gaston on October 1st 1880; with whom he had four children:
David Gaston (1881-1952)
Herbert Hall (1884-1957)
Finis Eugene (1886-1959)
Annie Kathleen (1890-1982)

After Elizabeth died in 1901, Asbury married Miss Frances "Fannie" Young in 1905.

Asbury Taylor Wilkinson became a successful planter and a leading political leader in Autauga County; where he built the Methodist Church and a retirement home for Methodist ministers. He departed this life on the 2nd of November 1937; a respected and beloved man.
