Franklin P. "Guinea" Jones, age 94, of Route 3, Wytheville, died Friday morning, Oct. 16, 1992, in the Wythe County Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Mount Zion Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows for 51 years. He was preceded in death by two sons, Eugene Jones and Fletcher Jones and a daughter, Betty Mabe.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Jones of Wytheville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Edward Arnold of Wytheville, and Helen Carter of Gloucester; three sons and daughters-in-law, Herschel and Linda Jones of Route 3, Wytheville, Munsey and Audrey Jones of Max Meadows, and Luther and Louise Jones of Route 3, Wytheville; three brothers, Ellis "Blackeye" Jones of Speedwell, Eldridge A. "Blueeye" Jones of New Jersey; Dyer Jones of Chesapeake; a sister, Gladys Cornett of Arizona. Eighteen grandchildren and 22 great grandchild also survive.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Gillman Funeral Chapel, or at the residence of his daughter, Marie Arnold, at any time. The remains will be placed in the church one hour before service time.
Gillman Funeral Chapel in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.
