Engineer, father of the Argentina´s aviation, sportsman. Jorge Newbery is the most important character in Argentina´s sport in the XX Century. He was son of a American dentist. IN 1890 he got his high school degree. Between 1891 and 1895 he lived in USA, when he graduated as Electric Engineer at the Cornell University, and also studied at the Drexel Institute, where Thomas Alva Edison was his teacher. In 1907 he began to fly in globe. In 1910 began to fly in plane. In february, 1914, he reached the 6,225 mts. of height, but the record wasn´t homologated. During his life Newbery practised sucessfully the boxing, fencing, rowing, rugby, motorsport among other sports. On march 1st, 1914, some ladies asked Newbery for a flying demostration. He borrowed a plane from a friend and during the fly, he suffered a fatal accident.
