Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Anna C Crawford were held this morning at the family home on Michigan avenue, Rev. D.D.Burrell officiating. Owing to the inability of one of the sons to reach here until this evening the burial will not take place until tomorrow morning when the relatives will accompany the remains to Pine Lake cemetery. In speaking of the death of Mrs. Crawford, the Elkhart Review says: "She was one of the notable figures in Elkhart's early history. Her husband, George Crawford, was associate with Dr. Havilah Beardlsey, and together they entered much land in Elkhart county and were in partnership in several enterprises. Mrs. Crawford and her husband were among the very earliest settlers and in 1876, when a reunion was held here at the home of the late J.D.Braden, she was recognized as the oldest settler. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, in LaPorte in 1880."
