Age 86, of Westminster, died at a nursing home in Boonsboro, following an extended illness. Born in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Jasper C. and Hannah Salome Yon Garner. His wife, Mary H. Garner, died in 1970.

He was an Elder in the Piney Creek, Edgewood, Beaver Dam and Monocacy Churches of the Brethren from 1947-1970.
Surviving are a son, Charles O. Garner, Jr.; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
