William was in the last group of Cooke County men called into service for World War I. Six weeks later he died of Spanish Influenza at Camp Travis in San Antonio, Texas. Married first to Cora White and second to Viola King.

SOLDIER BOY DIES IN CAMP

C. B. Cobb a farmer residing in the southeast part of Cooke county received a message today from Camp Travis, informing him of the death of his son, M. C. Cobb, which occurred in that camp last Monday night. Death being due to an attack of influenza. The deceased went to Camp Travis some weeks ago with the last increment sent from this county to mobolize at Camp Travis.
The remains will be shipped home and interment will take place at Mt. Springs, cemetery at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
