Aged Man Passed Away

Michael Draeger who was well known in this city died at the home of his son in Chicago last Thursday and the remains were brought to this city Saturday and taken to his former home.
He had been a resident of this city many years and was 92 years 10 months and 9 days old at the time of his demise. He was a good man and it was generally hoped that he could live to be one hundred years old.

OBITUARY
Michael Draeger was born in Stieglitz Posen Germany Augest[sic] 3, 1821, grew to manhood in that country and served his enlistment in the German army. After he was discharged from the army he was married ta[sic] Miss Louise Groehler and to them were born nine children, two of whom died in infancy. He had the misfortune to lose his wife 28 years ago and later was married the second time but lost his second wife 11 years ago.
In 1873 he emigrated to this country, to which he had been preceded by several of his older children, and settled near Melvin where he remained until he was no longer able to work and then moved to this city where he made his home until he could no longer care for himself. About two years ago his son Martin took him to his own home in Chicago in order that he might properly care for his aged father. He remained in Chicago until the end.
He leaves to mourn his demise five children, namely, Mrs. Wilhelmine Kurtzner[sic] of Flanagan; Frederick of Britt, Iowa; Michael of Upland, Neb.; Martin of Chicago; and Gotlieb of Roberts. Also thirty-five grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and a lot of friends.
The funeral services were held from the German Lutheran Church in this city Sunday afternoon conducted by the pastor Rev. J. T. Hossfeld. Interment was made in Melvin cemetery.
