Lois (Cooley) Barlow, formerly of Conklin, NY, passed away after a brief illness, Wednesday, April 27, 2011. She was predeceased by husband Elmer in 1974, parents Theron and Ruby Cooley of Nicholson, PA, in-laws Howard and Leona Barlow of South Gibson, PA, and siblings Marguerite (Peg) Belcher, Alpene MacDonald, Leta Becker, Donald Cooley, and little Theron, sister-in-law Ellen Luongo, Scranton, PA and brother-in-law Joseph Prebish Dunmore, PA. She is survived by her loving family (son) Wayne and Suzanne, Rebecca, Katie, and Danny Barlow, Kirkwood, NY, (daughter) Janet and David, Colleen, and Kristen Aldrich, Johnson City, NY, and (son) Lynn and Laurie, and Meghan and Nicholas Barlow, Montrose, PA, Mrs. Millie Booth, Dimock and Mabel Barlow, Mary Jane Prebish, and Sal Luongo all of PA., many loving cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends and acquaintances throughout the community.
After our father's death in 1974, she was employed by the SV school system, Maine's Cash and Carry as a file clerk, and as a home health-care aid for the Family and Children's Welfare Society. Lois was a faithful member and choir member of High Street Methodist Church before joining the Conklin Presbyterian Church in the early 70's where she was a long standing member of the church and choir. Lois was also a long-standing member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Conklin. We would like to thank the care-givers of the Hilltop Retirement Community for their care as well.
Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Lois' memory to the Senior Choir Music Fund at Conklin Presbyterian Church. Calling hours will be held at Conklin Presbyterian Church, 1175 Conklin Road, Conklin, NY Monday, May 2 from 4-7 PM. The family will receive visitors again Tuesday, May 3 at 10 AM with the funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Steve Chastain, to follow at 11 AM. Burial will be at Vestal Hills at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are by the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc. 137 Robinson Street Binghamton, New York.
